Miami, FL, United States (AHN) – Former Siena standout Kenny Hasbrouck, who was summoned by the Miami Heat Monday, has signed a 10-day contract, the team announced Tuesday.

The 25-year-old Hasbrouck, who became the 25th Gatorade NBA Development League call-up this season, is expected to fill the roster spot of Rafer Alston, who was suspended by the Heat for the season.

Alston was banished for the rest of the season after leaving the team unannounced.

Hasbrouck, a 6′3″, 195-pound combo guard, was being groomed into a point guard by the Heat last year during its summer program, but he injured his rib before the camp opened in September.

He is expected to bolster the Heat’s backcourt lineup, and could likely see playing time in the event starting point guard Carlos Arroyo and backup Mario Chambers get injured.

Hasbrouck has logged an average 16.9 points in 10 tilts with Rio Grande Valley of the NBA Development League.

Meanwhile, forward Dorell Wright, who was slapped a two-game suspension by the Heat following last week’s DUI arrest, apologized for the incident and returned to practice Monday.

He is likely to be reinstated in the Heat rotation starting Tuesday against San Antonio.

Jermaine O’Neal was also contrite as he participated in team drills Monday.

The Heat center was ejected in third quarter of Sunday’s 104-91 triumph over Philadelphia after he tried to grab the face of 76ers center Samuel Dalembert.

Miami’s second-leading scorer Michael Beasley is back in harness after a two-game absence with a bruised left thigh.
